Kim Hoetmer , LPC
Supervising Mental Health Therapist
Kim has been married to her husband, Jeff, since 1990, and together they’ve built a life full of adventure, service, and family. Their son lives in Wichita with his wife and their daughter—Kim’s beloved granddaughter! Their daughter lives in beautiful Colorado, where she is trained and certified in a truly impressive range of rescue operations—from fire and water to mountain and avalanche rescue. Kim and Jeff joke that space might be her next frontier!
Kim earned her Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education in English in 1990 and immediately began teaching high school English in Goddard. Over the years, she taught nearly every language arts elective imaginable—debate, forensics, drama, journalism, writing workshop, and yearbook. In 1998, she earned her Master’s in School Counseling and transitioned into a school counseling role at the high school level. She continued to serve students there until her retirement in 2022. Not one to slow down, Kim completed 12 additional graduate hours in her final year to become licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
Shortly after, Kim reached out to our very own Community Impact Director, Jo Lynn Bright, in search of a practicum placement. She began her practicum at HopeNet in January 2022, and after completing it, she hoped—and prayed—for the opportunity to return. In October 2022, Kim officially joined our team as a therapist!
Since joining HopeNet, Kim has embraced every opportunity for growth. She’s received EMDR training, completed her supervisor training in November, and is now supervising our student interns. She describes it as “amazing” to watch each of them make such a significant impact on the clients they serve.
Currently, Kim has submitted her application for clinical licensure and is preparing to sit for the national exam in the coming months. We’re so proud of her journey and thrilled to have her as part of the HopeNet team!
