Priscilla Oppong

Mental Health Therapist Intern

Originally from Ghana, West Africa, Priscilla holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Geography from her home country. Her journey then took her to Canada, where she earned an MPHIL in Humanities in 2019 and worked as a behavioral support worker during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was during this time that Priscilla felt a deep calling to pursue therapy, recognizing the growing emotional needs of her clients and friends—and her own need to process trauma.

That calling led her to enroll in the Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology (MACP) program at Yorkville University. Priscilla’s journey continued when her husband, an active-duty military member, was stationed in Wichita in 2021. She joined him in 2023 as they were expecting their first child—now a joyful 18-month-old daughter!

When looking for a practicum site, Priscilla was about to give up. On a whim, she typed “HOPE” into a search bar, and HopeNet appeared. She called the next morning—and the rest is history.

“My favorite part of HopeNet is that we are a faith-based organization where we are allowed and encouraged to talk about the goodness of God and what He is doing in us and through us. I love that it is such a welcoming and peaceful environment!”

Outside of her studies and internship, Priscilla enjoys spending time with her family and embracing this new season of motherhood.
